Robert Lewis – Bassoon

Robert Lewis bassoon is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, where his early studies were under Stanley Maret and George Goslee, both of the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra. He holds the degrees of Bachelor of Music in Performance from Bowling Green State University and Master of Music in Performance from Manhattan School of Music in New York City, where he studied under Stephen Maxym. He is the principal bassoonist with the Prince Edward Island Symphony Orchestra, former principal bassoonist with Symphony New Brunswick, and has performed as a soloist with both orchestras. He teaches bassoon privately and at the Université de Moncton, and has also taught bassoon at the University of Prince Edward Island. He plays baroque bassoon (at old pitch) as a member of the Early Music Studio of Saint John’s Collegium Musicum. He also performs in many recitals and chamber music concerts, and has recorded for both the CBC and the National Film Board. In 2007 he released a CD, “Baroque Sonatas for Recorder and Bassoon”, with Tim Blackmore.
